Hashtags’ offspring tagged titles on every level.

Hashtags’ influence in the cutting pen was undeniable at the 2025 Cattlemen’s Derby & Classic. His offspring delivered standout performances across every level, from the Open to the Amateur, stacking up wins and proving they’re a force to be reckoned with.

Too Hot To Handle

Talk about a hot streak. Too Hot To Tagg, piloted by Kenny Platt, threw down a smoking 225 to claim the 4-Year-Old Open Championship and a $20,000 payday for JH Nail Ranch Inc. Bred by Wes Ashlock, this gelding out of Too Hot showed the same fire that he has shown from the start.

But that wasn’t all—prior to the finals, Kenny Platt piloted Too Hot To Tagg to a blazing 221 to mark the high score of the 2nd Go in the 4-Year-Old Open, proving he’s a force to be reckoned with in any round.

Intermediate Open: Double Down

The 4-Year-Old Intermediate Open saw Hashtags double down on third place, with Dutchess Deluxe and Tik Tak Toe both cashing in for $3,750 each. Garrett Hampton rode Dutchess Deluxe for Stanford Ranch Performance Horses, while Armando Costa Neto showed Tik Tak Toe for Renato E Rezende Barbosa.

But before the finals, Dutchess Deluxe and Garrett Hampton set the bar high, marking a 219 to lead the first go of the 4-Year-Old Intermediate Open.

Non-Pro? No Problem

In the 4-Year-Old Non-Pro, it was CW Para Bellum making moves, marking a winning run under Nadine Payne. Owned by Nadine & James Payne, the flashy gelding (out of Checks For Cats, bred by Carole Wyatt) pulled off a double-victory, taking home both the Non-Pro and Non-Pro Gelding titles for a combined $9,903 in earnings.

Success runs deep in the Payne family, and James Payne is no stranger to winning on Hashtags offspring. He piloted Jazlyn, the 2024 NCHA Open Horse of the Year, to the 5/6-Year-Old Open Finals earlier in the week, where they delivered a strong fifth-place finish, adding $9,000 to her already impressive earnings of over $385,000.

Another standout in the Non-Pro was Hardtags and Cameron Thompson, who scored a strong 218, claiming the second-highest score in the go-round. Their consistency carried through the finals, where they secured a fourth-place finish and took home $3,500 in earnings.

Two standout performers advanced to the Cattlemen’s 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro Finals—Dirrty Shirley, owned and shown by EJ Huntley, and Hashtag in Red, owned and shown by Gavin Mesalam.

Dirt Never Hurt

Throw a little dirt on it? Or in this case, throw up a huge score of 222! Christina Huntley and Dirrty Shirley (out of San Tule San Doc) are no strangers to the winner’s circle, and they proved it yet again in the 5/6-Year-Old Amateur. The seasoned duo came out slinging dirt, delivering a 222 to lock in the championship title.

But this win didn’t come out of nowhere—Dirrty Shirley and Huntley put in the work early, posting a solid 217.5 in the go-round to punch their ticket to the 5/6-Year-Old Amateur Finals. Once they were there, they left no doubt who belonged at the top.

And it turns out, this is a family affair. Earlier in the week, Christina’s dad, EJ Huntley—the owner of Dirrty Shirley—marked a massive 221 on the mare, earning the high score of the go-round in the 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro. With this father-daughter duo at the helm, Dirrty Shirley just keeps stacking it up.

Don’t Miss This

SB Miss Lisa Lou (Hashtags x SB Miss Te Cat) and Gary Reichart made a strong statement in the 5/6-Year-Old Intermediate Amateur, marking a 219 to sit at the top of the leaderboard in the go-round. Their standout performance secured them a spot in the finals.

Joining them in the 5/6-Year-Old Intermediate Amateur Finals is Tags Hot Star (Hashtags x Ima Hot Model), piloted by Randall Graham, who also earned a spot in the 5/6-Year-Old Amateur Finals. With multiple Hashtags offspring stacking the finals lineups, it’s clear that his offspring aren’t just competitive, they’re the kind that come back for more.
